Our Team

David Buttle

David Buttle is the founder of DJB Strategies, a boutique consultancy created to help media businesses succeed and grow. Its focus is primarily strategy and technology. Much of David's work at the moment is on artificial intelligence and the changing platform environment. Prior to founding his business, David was Director of Public Affairs and Platform Strategy for the Financial Times. He was responsible for the FT's interfaces with big tech, relationships with governments and legislators and led the business's response to artificial intelligence, including licensing negotiations. David holds a MBA from Warwick Business School, is columnist for Press Gazette on media and technology and serves on the board of the Independent Publishers Alliance.

Founder

Dominic Young is a media consultant and the founder of the casual payment platform, Axate. He is an expert on IP and the interaction between news providers and tech platforms, having played a key role in the founding, development and leadership of the WAN-IFRA led project ACAP (the Automated Content Access Protocol) and The Copyright Hub. A long career at Newscorp saw him lead a number of operational and strategic teams, including establishing the IP management function before working closely alongside Rupert and James Murdoch on a major strategic product initiative. Through his work with Axate he has developed deep experience of media business models and product formats and continues to work on both.
